Everyone knows about the good old relationship statuses on facebook. You have Single, It's Complicated, In A Relationship, Civil Union, Engaged and Married. The one that is not on there is the one that actually happens the most out of every one of those options. What I am referring to is the status known as, "Still Banging My Ex". I am going to tell you exactly why this should be an option under the facebook relationship statuses.
For one, when you are still banging your ex, you are not completely single. You can do what you want when he or she isn't around, but you still spend time with this person. You are also not in a relationship because of the fact that you can do what you want when they're not around. Also, this situation isn't complicated. From the girls point of view, it's complicated. From the guys point of view it's actually quite simple. We still bang, and nothing else, that is all.
What exactly does this all mean? I refer to this as using your ex as a "safety blanket". When you go out, and you can't find anyone at the bar or club, you call your ex because you know they're down for a little freak time. When you're bored and feeling a little excited, once again, you call the ex because you know that they actually aren't going to say no. It is the ultimate safety blanket. If you don't find something new within a reasonable amount of time, you just get back together. If you do find something new within a reasonable amount of time, it's on to the next one. But while the search goes on, you will still have your insurance policy. That is why this should be a relationship status on facebook.
