Are The Yankees Done?

The Yankees are sitting at 21-21 and battling the Red Sox to jump out of the AL East cellar at the moment. I know most Yankee fans wanna say that it's only May and the Yankees will be fine, but let's look at the facts here. The starting pitching is okay at best, no Mo and no Robertson means a suspect bullpen and one of the guys you're paying millions of dollars for to play first base and hit .300 is hitting .227 with a .280 on base percentage. The Yankees basically admitted that Tex is having a horrendous season by dropping him to seventh in the lineup.

"Oh but A-Rod sucks he's old and can't play anymore." Really? He's hitting .276 and his on base percentage is .371. At least he's getting on base. So his power isn't there right now but at least he's getting on base and I'm pretty sure if you ask any pitcher in the league they still fear him. Tex doesn't even get on base, he rolls over to first and second all day. Not to mention the guy has never hit in the postseason ever. And don't even talk about A-Rod and the postseason because he carried your asses to the title in '09 and that's not even debatable. And if anyone wants to debate me on A-Rod please feel free to email me so I can shit on you.

"But Teixeira plays awesome defense." Do you know how dumb of an argument that is? He plays first base, not center field, not short stop and not catcher. He plays first fucking base. You can stick anyone at first base and they'll be an okay first basemen. You're not paying him millions of dollars to be a good first basemen. You're paying him millions to hit. And YOU the fans are paying his salary. That beer that's $9.50 and that steak sandwich that's $16 are paying his salary to hit .220 and never get on base.

This is shaping up to be a long year over in the Bronx. Old, slow and no pitching doesn't win in baseball and it never did. That vaunted lineup is not so vaunted anymore. And the years of horrible contracts are finally catching up to them. I could be wrong because it's only May, but I think the Yankees are heading for a fourth place finish and no playoff appearance.
