There is this strange assumption among women that just because it's their birthday, everyone still cares what you're doing for it. The main problem here is that you're over 21, therefore no one cares anymore when your birthday is, or what you're doing for it. Well, it's not that no one cares, your friends care, but no one is going out of their way to find out what you're celebrating once they know you're over 21.
What is this all about? Why does no one actually give two shits about your birthday as soon as you hit 22 years old? Well, it's quite simple. From the time of like like 18 to 20, you all went out and pretended it was your friend's 21st birthday every single year, just so you could get into bars and celebrate. Plus it's cool to get hammered on your birthday when it's completely illegal to be doing so.
And obviously, everyone cares about your 21st, because 21st birthday drunk is a whole different animal. If you didn't black out on your 21st birthday, you did something wrong. Your 21st birthday is the last birthday that anyone cares about. People will buy you shots because you're newly 21, people will even try and join your party. Once you say that you're 22 the main response turns into, "Oh, well, happy birthday I guess." It's the biggest half assed happy birthday you'll ever receive.
Now, what is the point of this post? To tell you to stop having a week long celebration for your birthday. 21 is a week long celebration because of the accomplishment. 22 is one night and one night only. There is no such thing as a birthday weekend or birthday week once your 21st birthday ends. You're technically an adult now, and just like all adults, nobody gives a shit about your birthday anymore. Much like no one gives a shit about Sarah Jessica Parker since there's no more Sex and the City. Get used to it, you're just washed up.
