Alright Yankee fans, the misery is over of watching that abysmal postseason so what happens next for this team? Well let's start with everybody's favorite scapegoat, A-Rod. Girardi totally fucked this guy. The entire team wasn't hitting but he was the only one who was singled out. Pinch hitting for him is one thing, but to totally bury him on the bench is another. You can't honestly tell me that Eric Chavez gave them a better chance of winning. You don't want him back? Tell me who you're gonna get to play great defense at third base and give you .280 with 20 homers.
Next, some notable free agents are Swisher, Ichiro, Kuroda, Pettite and Mo. Obviously Mo will be back, he's not going out with a knee injury. As for Swisher, in his Yankee career he is an anemic 1 for 36 with runners in scoring position in the playoffs, and he wants Jayson Werth money. No chance bro. He has to go. I would also say you need to bring back Kuroda or Pettite if not both.
As for Ichiro, who knows? Is Brett Gardner really an every day player? That's something they need to figure out before they decide on Swisher and Ichiro. But I don't think Swisher is worth anywhere near Jayson Werth money. I think you have to live with Curtis Granderson for another year and hope he produces in the playoffs assuming you get back there. I also think Cano is going to get his money and that's that. I'm chalking this up to a mentally weak team who let the home boo birds get the best of them throughout the playoffs. But what's next for this team? Get some sort of infusion of young players to mix it up with the veterans. And then see what happens. You're stuck with the age and most of these big contracts, there's not much you can do. Any thoughts?
