Johnny Baseball back in action here. It is that time of the year again! The Summer Classic is rapidly approaching and since everyone and their mother can vote for a lineup...Hammer and I decided to make our own All-Star Starting Lineups. I will be doing the American League and Hammer will be doing the National League.
The American League (Johnny Baseball)
C- Alex Avilia. Batting .297 with 10 homers, 46 RBI, and also 31 walks gets you a starting job on the Johnny Baseball All-Star team.
1B- Adrian Gonzalez. No brainer here, anyone who bats .350 with 120 hits, 16 homers, and 75 RBI but July has me sold.
2B- Robinson Cano. There are a lot of good second basemen in the AL but Cano for me takes the starting position. 14 homeruns and batting about .295 with 54 RBIs and 19 doubles is really what put him over in my book. He has great power numbers as a 2nd basemen while the others have more walks and higher on base percentages. Went with the better power numbers here
3B - Adrian Beltre. Having another solid year. Already has 16 home runs and 64 RBIs. Also hes batting .273 which could be considered low, but good enough for an All-Star start on Johnny Baseballs team
SS -Asdrubal Cabrera. Might seem like a shocking pick because it isn't Derek Jeter and this guy isn't going for this 3,000th hit BUT....Cabrera has made some ridiculous plays in the field and is also batting .295 with 14 homers, 22 doubles and 49 RBIs. Those are some pretty impressive numbers.
LF - Alex Gordon. Seems like a weird selection, but this guy has only been playing LF for a short time after being moved there from the infield. Really having a great season batting .298 with 10 homeruns, 26 doubles, and 46 RBI. Pretty impressive.
CF - Jacoby Ellsbury. He is having a BEAST year. Batting .310 with 104 hits already. Also has 9 homeruns and plays great D...gotta love him.
RF - Jose Bautista. The new homerun machine. Batting .329 with 27 homers ARE YOU KIDDIN ME!? Insane. The only bad part with those 27 homeruns...only 56 RBIs. Will someone in Toronto please get on base for this man.
DH - Big Papi. I guess hes the only fat piece of garbage who plays DH, and I don't feel like searching for another one because the DH is GARBAGE. Also, the team captian, another part of the reason All-Star games are jokes.
Pitcher -Justin Verlander. Hands down. This guy is absolute filth. 11 and 3 with a 2.32 ERA. 130 strikeouts and opponets are batting .185 against him. Not much more needs to be said.
The National League (Hammer)
C-Brian McCann. .314 with 14 home runs and 48 RBI's. That guy in St. Louis can't sniff those batting numbers.
1B-Prince Fielder. Guy is an absolute beast. .302 with 22 dingers and 71 RBI's. I would say he deserves the start in the all star game.
2B-Brandon Phillips. Is hitting .292, which is the highest among NL second basemen and although the power numbers aren't all there he is still on pace for about 90 RBI's and around 20 home runs. Plus he has twenty doubles as well.
3B-Aramis Ramirez. A guy who is not even on the all star team and should be. He's hitting .294 which is second among NL third baseman and has 14 home runs and 48 RBI's, which both lead all NL third basemen. It's a shame it's a popularity contest and not based on what some of these guys have done during the season.
SS-Jose Reyes. I hate him, but he's having a career year. He knows exactly what he is doing playing for his contract. .354 with 65 runs scored and 15 triples is one hell of a first half for a leadoff hitter. Oh, and he also has only 26 strikeouts in 350 at bats.
LF-Ryan Braun. Much like Johnny Baseball has a man crush on Troy Tulowitzki, I have a man crush on Ryan Braun. .320, 16 bombs and 62 RBI's, and he does it every single year. Guy is legit and I love him. Also, his nickname is the Hebrew Hammer, and I'm just The Hammer, so we both have something in common.
CF-Matt Kemp. .325, 22, and 64 are numbers that I can't remember a center fielder in recent memory coming close to in the first half. Yeah Beltran's hit like 40 home runs twice or some shit but he's never hit .300. Kemp is having an unbelievable year.
RF-Hunter Pence. I still hate him, I still think he's overrated and I still think he has inflated numbers because he plays in Houston and left field is like a little league fence. That being said, he is still having an awesome year and is hitting .331. On a shit team, .331 is pretty good.
Pitcher-Jair Jurrjens. He's 12 and 3 and his ERA is under two. His ERA is actually 1.87. Are you kidding me? He has been untouchable this year. Everyone always heard about his potential, his issue has just been staying healthy. Well, he's now healthy and he is mowing people down.
