Why The Rangers Will Make the Playoffs and Be Dangerous

For about the last three weeks New York Rangers fans have been freaking out about whether or not the Rangers will make the playoffs. It's now the end of the road, there are three games to go and the Rangers are tied for the 7th spot with the Ottawa Senators but just one point ahead of the Winnipeg Jets. However, I'm going to tell you why the Rangers will make the playoffs and be dangerous.

First of all, they are playing their best hockey at the right time. For most of the year when they scored goals, they couldn't defend and when they could defend they couldn't score. They were your prototypical bad hockey team. And then something magical happened. Marian Gaborik got traded. Since the trade the Rangers look more balanced and they have an extra pep in their step. Oh, and they've been putting the puck in the net. This is all a mix for a team nobody wants to see if they hold on and make the playoffs.

Secondly, their schedule is a joke. Their remaining games are against Florida tonight, Carolina on Thursday and New Jersey on Saturday. Normally you would say the Devils would love nothing more than to knock the Rangers out, but they haven't been able to get out of their own way so it's not going to happen.

Honestly, 8 seed, 7 seed it doesn't matter this year as long as the Rangers get in. Also, I'm not scared of any of these teams come playoff time. Sure Pittsburgh is good, but with no Crosby and Malkin still banged up I do not fear them. If it was the Rangers team from about a month ago I would say they have no chance. But with the way they've been playing they look like one of the best teams in the league. Watch out for them in the postseason. They may just have an LA Kings cinderella run in them.
