The New York Rangers opened up their playoffs with a 4-2 win over Ottawa last night. However, the game was not at close as the score indicated at the end. The Rangers were actually up 4-0 early in the third period and then coasted the rest of the way. Now, Ottawa took three out of four from the Rangers this season, and their goalie was undefeated in MSG before last night. But everyone forgets to realize that the playoffs in New York are a completely different animal. Walking into MSG for a Rangers playoff game is like walking into Yankee Stadium in October. It's not like every other game and you don't just walk in and walk out with a W. Last night proved that point as the Senators goalie was rattled and their defense got rattled. With the best goalie in hockey between the pipes, if he Rangers play like they did from the middle of the second period on last night, they're gonna be a tough, tough out. You visiting teams better bring your A game for the playoffs when walking into MSG, because you're not coming out alive if you don't.
