With Joe Flacco's Deal Complete, Contracts in Sports Are Officially Out of Hand

It's official, when Joe Flacco becomes the highest paid quarterback in NFL history sports contracts are out of hand. Is he really worth more than twenty million dollars a year? Come on, let's get serious for a second. Sure, his playoff run was awesome and no one is taking that away from him. But can we look at the big picture. You have to play an entire regular season and he doesn't put up great regular season numbers. He's a 22 TD and 11 interception guy consistently. He's not a 35 and 14 guy, he's not even a 30 and 20 guy. He is 22 and 11 every year and it's consistent as gravity. You're telling me that Joe Flacco shouldn't be throwing more than 22 interceptions with receivers like Torrey Smith and Anquan Boldin and a running back like Ray Rice? Get real. With Flacco's new contract what is Aaron Rodgers gonna get when he hits free agency? You can't sit there with a straight face and tell me that Aaron Rodgers isn't infinitely better than Flacco. You just can't. Basically what I'm saying is that with this contract, the flood gates have now opened. Aaron Rodgers is next, then it'll probably be Andrew Luck and then it will probably be Russell Wilson and so on. It's just getting ridiculous. You can't base contracts off of one playoff run. What does he do for you consistently should be the barometer. But those days are long gone. We live in a sports world where everyone gets caught up in the moment, and these contracts are doing nothing but proving that.
