The End Of That Met Yankee Game Had Me Shaking My Head Last Night

Look, there's no denying that Terry Collins is doing an awesome job with this Mets team. He has them showing up and playing hard every day and right now they're in second place and no one thought they would be four games out at the end of June. With that being said, Collins had me scratching my head at the end of that game last night.

First, in the top of the eighth. You know Cano's coming up and you have Tim Byrdak your lefty specialist warming up in the pen. Why don't you bring him in to face the lefty? Cano is a left, Byrdak is a lefty specialist, see how this all would make sense? We leave in Batista, he hangs a splitter, and it gets deposited 430 feet away to dead center for what would end up being the game winning home run.

Next, you're down one run going into the bottom of the ninth. Because of a double switch the pitchers spot is in the four hole being Wright. Wright is leading off the bottom of the ninth. Why the fuck isn't Ike Davis coming up next, why is Murphy up? I know Davis would eventually end up getting up as the winning run but that's not my point. My point is that you're down a run and one swing of the bat ties the game. Murphy hasn't hit a home run since like May of last season. Why isn't Ike Davis hitting in that spot. Because let's say Duda doesn't get on in the ninth, Davis doesn't end up hitting.

Needless to say last night had me shaking my head. I like Collins I really do, but last night just made me think about what he's really doing. I'm gonna out that loss strictly on him last night. Collins let's wake up. If you wanna make a run at this thing, it's time open your eyes and make some better decisions.
