I have no idea if anyone has been paying attention to Miguel Cabrera this season because he plays for Detroit, but has anyone looked up and seen this guy's numbers? He legitimately has a chance to win the triple crown, which would be the first time a player has won the triple crown since 1967.
As of right now Cabrera is hitting .333 (1st in the AL) with 40 home runs (2nd in the AL) and 129 RBI's (1st in the AL). He trails Josh Hamilton by two in the home run category, but as far as everything else goes look at this season. His on base percentage is also .396 and he's the sole reason that the Tigers are still alive in the AL Central race.
I don't think there is a better hitter on the planet than Cabrera. Yeah so he gets drunk and beats his wife from time to time but there's no denying that he has consistently hit for average and power since he came up when he was 19 years old with the Marlins. Another amazing stat is that in his 567 at bats, he has only struck out 88 times. If you're not paying attention to him, you might want to start because we're witnessing one of the best seasons a hitter has ever put together and the first time anyone has seen a triple crown in almost 50 years.
