With last night's win over the Knicks the Chicago Bulls not only stopped the Knicks winning streak but they also swept the season series. Now last week I wrote if the Knicks were a threat to the Heat come playoff time. Today I am writing about whether or not the Bulls are a threat come playoff time. And guess what? Everyone is going to tell me I'm wrong, but the Bulls are a threat to the entire Eastern Conference come playoff time and I'm going to tell you why.
What wins in the postseason? Great defense, great ball movement, rebounding and the ability to pound the ball inside. The Bulls can do all of those things. Chicago makes you earn every point you score and they have two hammers on the inside with Carlos Boozer and Joakim Noah. Do I think Boozer is a little overrated? Yes, but Noah has been playing like a monster this year and I expect him to come back from this injury and keep it up.
Not only do they defend you, but they have complimentary players like Luol Deng and Rip Hamilton who can score the basketball. They're offense isn't dominated by one guy, they distribute the ball. And with or without Derek Rose, they can compete with anyone. Not to mention that Tom Thibodeau can flat out coach.
Add to all of this that they've stopped the Heat and the Knicks winning streaks with less than a full squad. Sure the Knicks were missing their big dudes last night but the Bulls were also missing Noah who has been their best player all season. The Bulls are a tough, physical basketball team and nobody in the East wants to see them on the other side of their matchup once the playoff seedings become official.
