Let's look at the facts here everyone, the cornerback position is not nearly as important as it used to be. Cornerbacks used to be able to kick the crap out of receivers at the line of scrimmage and down the field. With the rules in the NFL now, the cornerback position just isn't that important. Everyone talks about the Seahawks and their corners but they went 7-9 two years in a row with those great corners. You know what happened? They got a quarterback, now they can win a Super Bowl.
Also, Revis is coming fresh off of knee surgery. Why would you give a guy coming off knee surgery $16 million a year? That's obscene. The cornerback position is not that important anymore. The Giants and Ravens won the Super Bowl the last two seasons with below average cornerback play. Both of those teams didn't have their best corners (Terrelle Thomas and Ladarius Webb) and they won the Super Bowl. You know what those teams both had? Awesome quarterback play.
Outside of the quarterback position you just don't give guys money like the Bucs are giving Revis. Jets fans can complain all they want and say that you don't trade your best player but realistically the Jets may be the worst team in the NFL right now and that second first round pick this year could end up big. Of course that's all pending on the Jets actually learning how to draft overnight since we all know their history.
Sidenote: Speaking of Jets drafting history, here's a video:
you shouldve put a giant picture of Vernon Gholston under that vid
