With championship week approaching and the NCAA tournament right around the corner it almost seems like the top teams in the country are allergic to the top five. The good thing is that the only number one ranking that matters is the one at the end of the season. With that being said, which top teams do you trust the most heading into the tourney?
I'm not going to lie, Indiana scares me. In every Indiana loss this year the same formula has beaten them. When a team doesn't go away and just keeps on throwing punches, Indiana hasn't been able to handle it. Not to mention they have two home losses and a neutral court loss. That doesn't bode well for the NCAA tourney.
Gonzaga I'm still very much on the fence about. I know they've been murdering teams in their awful conference and I know they have pros on their team but they did lose to Illinois earlier in the year. With that being said, I trust them the most out of every potential number one seed to make it to that second weekend and get to a regional final.
Finally, on to the team I actually trust the most. Let me start by saying that I despise this team, but when you look at the whole body of work, I'm picking them right now to win the national title. Duke is my team I trust the most. No home court or neutral court losses on the year, and with Ryan Kelly back, they are absolutely dangerous. I would be shocked if Duke isn't booking a flight to the Final Four.
With the way the season has gone this could change drastically. But I have done my research, I have watch a lot of games and this is what I've come up with. If the tournament started tomorrow I would bet Indiana is out in the second round, Gonzaga gets to at least the Elite 8 and Duke goes to the championship game. You have to look at the whole body of work, and that's what I've come up with.
