Just How Bad is Northeast Conference Basketball According to ESPN?

Last night was the Northeast Conference Basketball championship game between LIU Brooklyn and Mount Saint Mary's. LIU won the game in a blowout like 90-71 or something like that. But while I was watching ESPN I noticed that they really consider NEC basketball one of the worst conferences in America. How do I know this? Anyone who watched last night could figure it out.

I went to an NEC school, so I know how the conference is looked at everyone else in division one. On ESPN last night they had this thing called the Bid Board and it had the four games last night that had automatic bids to the NCAA tourney up for grabs. Three of them were men's games, and then there was one women's game.

They showed two of the three men's games right away and then they went to a commercial. When they came back they went back to the Bid Board and what did they choose? They chose a women's college basketball game. Yes, they chose a women's game between UCONN and Notre Dame over LIU and Mount Saint Mary's. I know nobody really cares about the NEC, but NOBODY gives a rats ass about women's college basketball. At least anyone watching ESPN.

I think that was the official low point for Northeast Conference basketball last night. When your highlights are being showed behind women's college basketball I think it's time for the conference to take a long, hard look in the mirror and think about why they are in division one. To add insult to injury even more, LIU is probably going to get the dreaded play in game as well. Meaning, they're not even technically in the tournament yet and even if they win they'll play someone like Indiana or Duke and get manhandled.

Sidenote: For the most part I realize none of you care about this but since I went to a school in the NEC I got a kick out of how ESPN indirectly took a dump on their chest last night.
