- How bad is it really Met fans? I featured a tweet a while back where Kevin Burkhardt was making fun of the team he works for and Im pretty sure I've done an Adam Rubin one before as well.
I'm also pretty sure I've said this before about the upcoming season.
We lose opening day, everyone says we suck... We hang around .500 most of the first quarter of the year... we go over .500 for a little bit, people start saying Terry Collins is doing a fantastic job and how the Mets are a scrappy, fighting team... then we foolishly think that we are in contention by the All Star Game, trade away Matt Harvey or Zack Wheeler for an older bat and just like that! It's Scott Kazmir for Victor Zambrano all over again... We embarress ourselves the rest of the way and we're back to being a joke again!
By the way.. My favorite Mets news of the offseason went relatively unnoticed.
Remember Fernando Martinez? The highly touted outfield prospect who was suppose to be this mega star that we could have traded for basically anybody at the time when he was a prospect?
Well, he was claimed by the Houston Astros off waivers last month... for nothing... off WAIVERS!
