A couple of my buddies told me this story about two weeks ago and I almost couldn't believe my ears. However, then I remembered that they were speaking about a place known as Staten Island. And this is the place where most mothers think they are still teenagers. So now I give you, the Staten Island Mother of the Year story.
She's obviously a woman in her upper forties who still goes tanning and wears sweatpants with sayings on her ass. But that's not what makes her the Mother of the Year. I could look past all that because it's Staten Island and stuff like that is expected. But what about drinking with your daughter and her friends at a bar?
Sure, parents drink with their kids all the time right? Yes, parents drink with their kids who are of the legal drinking age. Parents don't drive their 19 year old daughter and her friends to the bar and then start taking shots with them. That is not what real parents are supposed to do. But that doesn't stop this mom, she's there with her daughter and her friends and she's probably playing wing woman and trying to cheat on her husband as well.
Is there anyone who doesn't see the humor and/or sheer ridiculousness in this story. Think if your mother would ever drive you to the bar before you were 21 and then hang out with you and your friends. This isn't like they were drinking at her house, they were at a fucking bar. That's just ridiculous. Or is it? It could just be that this is Staten Island, and the way MTV perceives it is actually kind of how it is. She is hands down the Mother of the Year and I love every second of it.
