Ray Lewis to Retire at Season's End

Not sure what to say here. Big news today as Ray Lewis announces that he's going to retire at the end of the season. One of the best defensive players of my generation. Straight up murdered people in the prime of his career, on and off the field.

I personally think the whole situation in 2000 was blown out of proportion and he really didn't have anything to do with two people getting killed; unfortunately a lot of people remember him for this and won't let him live it down.

A freak athlete, and a freak football player. He'll go down in NFL history as one of the guys that changed the game. Not only did he possess the physical talent to perform at the highest level, but he revolutionized the mental side of the defensive game. Nobody worked harder at his craft on the defensive side of the ball than Ray Lewis.

He'll be an ESPN analyst, there is zero doubt in my mind. Hopefully he'll replace Herm Edwards. The only thing I wish for Ray when he becomes my favorite NFL analyst is that he doesn't become a caricature of himself like Herm. I hope he maintains his dignity and self respect and keeps doing what he's done to become one of the most magnetic personalities in the sports world.

Also, for your enjoyment.
