My Argument Against Joe Flacco

Is Joe Flacco and elite quarterback in the NFL? Personally, I don't think he is. Does he win? You can say he wins, he wins ugly but you can say he wins. Playoffs every year, more than a few AFC Championship game appearances, big arm, what's not to like? I will tell you.

First of all his numbers are consistent but they're not great. His numbers have been a model of consistency since he's been in the league. About 60 percent, 20 TD's and 11 INT's every single year. Look it up, it's scary. But I find it extremely hard to believe that a guy who has Ray Rice, Anquan Boldin and Torrey Smith can only throw 20 TD's every year. Have you seen Anquan Boldin play? Just throw it in his vicinity and he's catching it. Torrey Smith is an absolute burner down the field and Ray Rice should be able to make any QB throw 30 TD's. With those weapons, the numbers should be so much better.

Look at Phillip Rivers. He put up monster seasons when he had Antonio Gates, Vincent Jackson and LaDanian Tomlinson. He's been putting up Flacco numbers without those guys. Flacco is putting up above average numbers with three weapons that can't be touched by 90% of the teams in the NFL. Come on, he's not an elite quarterback.

Is he solid? Yes, he's a solid NFL QB, but he's not elite. Could he win a Super Bowl? Probably, he's playing in another AFC Championship game next week. But the guy just isn't an elite QB in this league. He is a very solid QB who most teams would like to have, but not elite. That's my argument against him. With his weapons he should be putting up much better numbers than 20 TD's and 11 INT's.

Sidenote: If you want to tell me that he's clutch because of the throw at the end of the game Saturday you're a jackass. If the safety just plays the ball correctly they don't win the game. And he didn't do anything in the OT Peyton set them up with the game winning field goal position on the interception.
