College Football Week 2 Recap

It's time for our college football week in review. This week the big stories around college football had to do with Texas A&M and Missouri making their SEC debuts. A&M hosted #23 Florida and Mizzou hosted #7 Georgia. Both were hostile environments and both were out there trying to prove that they belong in the SEC. What was evident of both these games is that the SEC isn't used to seeing the offenses run by A&M and Mizzou. The spread is not something that is run throughout the SEC so early on Florida and Georgia both had trouble adjusting. However, they would end up adjusting and both would win their games. Florida took it 20-17 in a down to the wire battle and Georgia pulled away in the 4th quarter winning 41-20. I was way more impressed with A&M than I was with Mizzou and I'm going to go as far as saying that in two years A&M will be very, very good especially with their freshman QB who looked like a stud early on.

Now, as for the biggest upset of the weekend Lousiana-Monroe went into #8 Arkansas and came away with an overtime win. Now I know Arkansas QB Tyler Wilson got hurt and didn't return to the game but you're an SEC school. You played against a team from the Sun Belt. Your back up should be better than their starter, and he wasn't. And that defense got shredded late in the game. They'll never admit it but we all know what happened. They were looking ahead to this week's monster game with #1 Alabama and they ended up getting beat. Now they're out of the top 25 and have way more questions than answers.

Other upsets included #12 Wisconsin getting beat at Oregon State, UCLA beating #16 Nebraska and Arizona blowing out #18 Oklahoma State. Notre Dame who is ranked and I don't know why looked completely unimpressive against Purdue and #19 Michigan struggled with Air Force.

Games to look out for this weekend include:

#1 Alabama vs Arkansas

#2 USC at #21 Stanford

#10 Michigan State vs #20 Notre Dame

#18 Florida at #23 Tennessee
