Ladies And Gentlemen, The New York Mets Second Half Swoon Is Officially In Full Effect

I am proud to say that it has officially arrived. The New York Mets second half of the season tailspin out of control is fully in effect. A serious contender would have come out this weekend and taken two out of three against Atlanta, a team that they were neck and neck with coming into the weekend. But this is the Mets we're talking about and of course they come out right away and get swept. This will be followed by losing two of three to the Nationals this week, which would give them 5 out of 6 losses to the two teams ahead of them in the standings. It was a good run, but you had to know eventually this was coming and you had to know it was coming sooner rather than later. No bullpen and a Gerry Hairston hitting clean up can only last for so long. So now turn out the lights, the party's over. The Mets are back to earth and moving towards the NL East cellar is the only direction they're headed.
