Highlight Feature: The Facebook Check-In

These days when you’re just browsing on facebook you notice a lot of different things. Dumb girls posting statuses about how shitty their lives are when we all know their lives aren’t even that shitty, links of videos regarding inside jokes, and finally the good old facebook check-in. I don’t really have a problem with this but let’s just think about it logically for a second.

To begin, letting everyone know you’re out at a bar and who you are there with only seems like trouble to me. Ladies, let’s say you have a boyfriend who tells you that he’s going out with just his boys on a certain night. Then you look on facebook and you see some bitch that you hate has a check-in that says she is at this certain bar, with eight other people. When you look at the list of the eight people, you notice your boyfriend is on it. This will ultimately lead to a fight between you and your boyfriend. Ignorance is bliss, and if it wasn’t for the facebook check-in everything would be perfectly fine.

Next, a facebook check-in pops up that you’re out somewhere with a bunch of people. Do you know how easy it is for someone to rob your house knowing exactly where you are and how long you’ll be gone for? Once again, this whole facebook check-in is causing trouble.

Finally, no one cares if you are at fucking Dippin’ Dots on the boardwalk with your fucking friends. Or if you’re in your pal’s backyard crushing beers. Nobody actually gives a fuck where you are or what you’re doing except for the people who you’re with. And they already know that they’re there with you so why do you need to tell everyone who’s on facebook? I don’t get it.

Maybe I’m just not a fan of the whole new world of facebook checking in and letting everyone know where I am at every minute of the day. Maybe that’s just not my cup of tea. But I will tell you that when this whole facebook thing causes trouble in your life, you think back to this post and say, “You know what? That asshole was right.”
