I Want You Drunk, But Not Sober...Why Do We All Do It?

We all know that everyone, guy or girl, has that one person that they want so bad when they get drunk. However, when you’re sober, you want absolutely nothing to do with this person. Why do we act like this? I don’t have a straight answer, but I have a couple of probable reasons why.

Beer Goggles: We all know how much we can drink before we start seeing shit that isn’t really there. Usually, we drink way passed that point and that is when we see that one person we all want so bad once we’re drunk. If you’re both drunk, this usually turns into leaving with each other, because the feeling is mutual. However, once you both wake up the next morning there will be either an awkward good-bye, or you’ll sneak out and make the other person feel used. I prefer the second option because you don’t even need to speak to one another until the next time you’re both drunk.

Friends? Sort of: You and this other person are friends, but not good enough friends where you say you wouldn’t hook up with each other to ruin that friendship. The only reason you started talking to him/her was because you were attracted to them, but no one ever made a clear cut move. Now when you two get drunk you flirt and possibly text each other dirty things, but nothing really happens. Then once you’re sober you two act like nothing happened, most of the time because you actually don’t remember.

Past History: You have a past history with this person, whether it be hanging out, hooking up or anything along those lines, you two just faded out and neither of you know why. Perfect for when you two get hammered though. You’ll talk, have a good time, probably make out and possibly leave with each other. Then just like old times, it won’t be talked about when you’re sober and will just fade away. But it will probably happen again within the next three weeks and the cycle will continue.

Those are my reasons why you may want someone drunk, but not sober. Guy or girl, everyone has that one drunk lover. It’s just a matter of finding out why.
