People Don't Just Go In Looking For A Relationship, Do They?

 

For some odd reason there are just some people who will jump right into talking to someone and say that they are looking for a relationship. Now, I don't know about you but I didn't think people just jumped into shit actually looking for a relationship, I thought it was something that happened over time. You know, getting to know someone, feeling them out and then deciding whether or not you wanna be with them. But maybe I'm the dumb one. 

When I hear a someone ask the question, "What are you looking for," the first word in my head is never "relationship". Looking for a relationship is a lot harder than just having one spring up on you and happening. Plus if you're blatantly looking for a relationship the other person is going to think you're a fucking nut job and probably stop talking to you before you get the chance to make them like you enough to get into something. 

Why can't things just start off slow? Why does everything need to be an accelerated process where you need to decide whether or not you wanna be with someone this very second? You can't live your life like that. If you do you'll just end up scaring off every person you like. You'll literally be compared to a stage 5 clinger if you tell someone as soon as you meet them that yes, you are looking for a relationship. Why would you be looking for a relationship right away anyway? You barely know the person. What if they're a serial killer? Do you really wanna be in a relationship with a serial killer? I didn't think so. 

Basically what I'm saying here is that people need to slow the fuck down. Relationships aren't something that just happen overnight. You don't just meet someone and decide that you want to be with them. Progress is a slow process, you have to make them want you and that only comes with time. And by time I don't mean a full week. I mean at least a couple of months. You wouldn't ask someone if they liked a movie after five minutes, so why would you ask someone if they want a relationship after one date? Take your time, and then see what happens. 

Sidenote: I have no fucking clue why I put a picture of this baby up there but when I googled "looking for a relationship" this is what came up. I actually think it's kind of hilarious.
